We strongly recommend either proofreading or copy-editing (also known as “line-editing”) as an essential part of the self-publishing process*.
A proofreader will correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, typos and spacings etc. While a copy-editor will provide a fresh and professional look at the manuscript, and as well as proofreading, will also comment on general text issues such as continuity errors, factual inaccuracies, unnecessary repetition, or just style, tone and readability.
(*from our appraisal on receipt of a manuscript, we will advise when we feel that a more extensive copy-edit is really advisable. This would be supported with sample page work.)
Once proofreading is completed, we can then undertake full page design, typesetting and layout of the book. This will ensure the contents are professionally and appropriately laid out.
We will initially share sample page spreads with you, and when a style has been agreed will proceed to a complete PDF. Once approved, we will have a print-ready file and be ready for digital short-run print or more traditional litho print, depending on what has been agreed.
At this point the manuscript files can also be converted to suitable e-book formats (e-pub & mobi) which are compatible for all the main e-book platforms.
All our editors, readers and designers are fully qualified within their speciality.
